About foodRegio

In the policy paper "Working for the benefit of Schleswig-Holstein: jobs, education, future", the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein identified the food industry as a key future economic contributor in the North.

The "Study of the Food Industry Cluster in Schleswig-Holstein" (2005) commissioned by the Ministry of Economics, Technology and Transport confirmed this and set out a framework for specific implementation measures.

On this basis, the foodRegio initiative was developed by the Lübeck Business Development Corporation, a company of the city developers KWL, the Lübeck Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Lübeck District Trade Association, the DGB (German Federation of Trade Unions), the Ostholstein development company, the Lübeck University of Applied Science and leading companies in the food industry.

foodRegio Lübeck began operating in August 2006 with the goal of strengthening and expanding the local food industry by giving intensive assistance to those companies already located here and by attracting new companies to the area.

Value-adding instances of cooperation between companies are being formed in, among other things, product development, production, logistics and personnel development. This involves working closely with the Lübeck University of Applied Sciences to produce a results-oriented combination of practical, specialist and methodic competences.
